Today Dell has released plans for the Dell Streak, a 5-inch Android Tablet aiming to provide people the best "on-the-go" entertainment, community connection and navigation experience. This Dell Streak is described as a compact and powerful companion for people who want to expand their ability to access their lives on the go, and realize tomorrow's technology today.

The 5-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen is said to be ideal for experiencing thousands of Android Market widgets, games and applications. Built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and available 3G connectivity (UMTS / GPRS / EDGE class 12 GSM radio with link speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps HSDPA) brings easy access for downloading and listening to music, updating social networking status in real-time, and staying connected to friends and family through e-mail, text, IM, and phone calls (yes, you can make phone calls). Check out the video demonstration of the Dell Streak here:

Dell Streak Will Get Android 2.2 Upgrade
On-the-go students, mobile professionals, and active families will find the Dell Streak's Web browsing capabilities as natural as a laptop (it'll receive Adobe Flash 10.1 and Android 2.2 later this year). The Dell Streak also sports a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor to combine basic functionality, performance, and benefits of a laptop in a pocket friendly size. Additionally, Dell promises video chat applications and other software innovations to be available down the road, for instance taking advantage of the Dell Streak's front facing VGA Web camera.

Furthermore, the Dell Streak is equipped with a 5-megapixel autofocus camera with dual LED flash, and it will be easy to shoot and upload images and videos to YouTube, Flickr, Facebook and more. There's also a 2GB internal NAND Flash memory (for storage of photos and videos, as well as Android Market apps when powered by Android 2.2), and a microSDHC memory slot with support for up to 32GB cards. The Dell Streak also incorporates a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The Dell Streak offers an enhanced Android interface, as well as integrated social media apps for Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. The new tablet will also come with Google Maps for Navigation, offering turn-by-turn navigation as well as street and satellite views.
